Teacher Information
This WebQuest was developed as part of Missouri's eMINTS project. You are welcome to adapt this lesson to fit your students' needs. If you choose to change this lesson to post on a different site, please contact me. I would like to see the adjustments you made. I would also like to recieve any feedback on how you use the lesson.
I adapted this Regions WebQuest as an overall introduction to get students excited about Our Country's Regions. Students will be exploring how geography affects the way people live. Some portions of the task will be more involved than others, but this is meant to be an overview. This lesson was designed to supplement the 4th grade Our Country's Regions Unit in the Missouri textbook published by Macmillan/McGraw-Hill. Students will work with a Region Team to develop a presentation. Students will have one of the following roles during research: manager, clicker, writer, artist, or presenter.
After completing the presentation, students will choose a region to visit on a family vacation. Each student will write about the region in a way to persuade their family members to go to that region on vacation.

Learners
This lesson is anchored in fourth grade social studies and utilizes communication to present research. It can easily be extended to upper grade levels in these subject areas as well.
It is assumed that the learners have some prior experience in gathering information from the internet and in producing a product using programs such as Word, Publisher, or Power Point. If students are not familiar with one of these programs, the teacher may need to modify the lesson to provide for other forms of presentation or provide extra support and instruction to students as they learn to use one of the listed modes of presenting.
